oh, Buffalo

to be honest, i've been a little homesick.  usually being away doesn't bother me.  but lately, i really miss buffalo.  i haven't been home since the beginning of January, and will not be again until the first week of May.  in the mean time, i will continue to compile my list of things to do/eat while i'm back in the City of Good Neighbors.

1.  snuggle with my 4.5 pound dog Sophie, and watch Criminal Minds marathons with my mom.

2.  get chicken wings, with an extra side of blue cheese, from Bar Bill Tavern.  this little gem of a spot has by far the best wings in Buffalo.  don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

3.  order the scallop tostados from Ricks On Main.  homemade tostados topped with guacamole and a scallop.  the middle of the plate is a heaping salad of greens, salsa, corn, beans, and what ever other delicious things they pile on there.

4.  stop at Spot Coffee on Elmwood for the grilled cheese.  this is a photo of their chicken focaccia sandwich, which looks very similar to the grilled cheese.  the grilled cheese is colby, cheddar, dijon mayo, and tomato on focaccia.

5.  drive-thru at Tim Hortons for a cafe mocha and sour cream glazed timbits (aka doughnut holes).

6.  order the spaghetti parmesan at Chef's Restaurant.  yes, that is a thick sheet of melted parmesan on top.  you're given a side of their famous pasta sauce for extra dipping.

my list can go on and on of restaurants in Buffalo that i love, and miss.  but, these few items are the comfort foods from home that i always seem to crave.  it should go unsaid that i look forward most to my mother's home cooked meals.  i was raised by a woman who has a lifetime subscription to Bon Appetit.
